Going Against the Flow: How to Make Your Wedding Stick Out From the Rest

When planning your wedding, it is impossible not to look to others and on social media to find ideas about what you want. After a while, they start looking very similar. There is nothing wrong with loving a trend and wanting to incorporate it into your day but, if you are looking for something more unique and wanting your wedding to stand out, you may have to break the trends. Here are five ideas for those planning a wedding who want to have a beautiful wedding that is a little different from others:

Go for an unconventional wedding venue:

One of the best ways to change up your wedding is to choose a unique location. This can be through a destination wedding or just finding a unique place around your area. There are so many untapped opportunities for places to hold weddings that will make your wedding stand out from the rest. Places like art galleries, historical sites, or botanical gardens can make for a beautiful wedding that will stand out from the rest.

Be more personalized:

Another great way to make something more unique and yours is to personalize everything. From vows to stationary and even napkins, the more personalized, the more you can stand out.

Change the dress code:

If you want to switch it up completely, changing the dress code can be a game-changer. You could go as far as changing the bride and groom's outfits. The bride could wear a colorful dress or a jumpsuit and the groom could wear something other than a tux. But, if you want to stick to traditional attire for the bride and groom, the dress code for the guests is also an option. You can request a fun theme or color scheme for them to follow to stick out.

Switch up schedules:

If you want to give your wedding a different feel, switching up the scheduling is a great way to give a unique feeling to your day. One way to do so is by having a small ceremony with close family and friends and a larger reception. You could also do a morning ceremony with a brunch reception or a reverse ceremony where the reception is first and the ceremony in the middle or last. Playing around with the schedule can make for a fun, unique day.

Ditch the traditions:

One of the easiest ways to change up your wedding is to go with untraditional activities. Traditions such as cake, party favors, and typical entertainment are easily interchangeable for something different that will give a twist to your day. Instead of cake, try a goodie table with different desserts available or an ice cream truck. For party favors try custom cookies or a handcrafted gift. Entertainment can also be more than just music. You can include activities such as live art performances, a magician, or even karaoke.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that your wedding is the day when you can choose to do whatever you want. You do not have to break every tradition in the books to have your wedding be unique to you. Whatever you decide to do with your wedding, doing what you truly want is most important. Here is to your wedding day being unforgettable!
